On my way into my office today, there was a woman breaking up with her boyfriend\/significant other\/ whatever over the phone. Loudly.\u00a0 With emphasis.\u00a0 And she kept repeating \u201cI don\u2019t care!\u201d<\/p>\n

That\u2019s the gist of it, isn\u2019t it? When it\u2019s over, one of the people just doesn\u2019t care.\u00a0 It doesn\u2019t matter how they got there or what happened, they have reached a point where they no longer care.\u00a0 I have been snarky at times with my ending things with the phrase \u201cI think we\u2019re done here\u201d, which Thom Lange says should be on my tombstone.\u00a0 (Children?\u00a0 Make a note of it.)<\/p>\n

Oddly, I have never gotten to a point where I just don\u2019t care. I have gotten to the point where things need to end, I have gotten to the point where, for my own mental well being I have to walk away, and I have gotten to the point where I realized that when you take the \u201cL\u201d out of Lover it\u2019s Over.<\/p>\n

But I do care.<\/p>\n

When I ended my last close friendship, I said Goodbye. The person said, \u201cNo, good night\u201d and I replied, \u201cGoodbye.\u201d\u00a0 It wasn\u2019t easy, it wasn\u2019t that I didn\u2019t care, it was just\u2026I thought we were done there.<\/p>\n

When it\u2019s over, it\u2019s best to just snap it off and walk away. No amount of arguing, yelling or anything else will bring it back because\u2026.someone just doesn\u2019t care.\u00a0 I felt bad for both people in that conversation, but I felt worse that it had to be done over the phone.\u00a0 It\u2019s probably also why I\u2019ve had the idea of telling the people you love how much they mean to you infusing all of my thoughts today.<\/p>\n
